"Mom, I want you to know how much I love you and appreciate all that you have given me" - Your Son

The Catalyst

My name is Jace and I love my mother.

My mom was a single parent since I was very young and she sacrificed so much to make sure my sister and I had a good life. Recently my mother has had some misfortunes in her life. With both her kids away from home, a few medical problems and a house that is no longer suitable, she needs my help. Times are tough for a lot of people right now and my mother is now included amongst that growing populace.

This last winter was a difficult one for us here in Upstate NY. Bitter colds skyrocketed heating costs while brutal snowstorms buried anything and anyone caught in their path. The house I grew up in took a beating as well and without some help, it may not make it through next winter.

I've been helping my mom as much as I can fixing things but
it's not enough. I need your help.

The Opportunity...

A few weeks ago I was in a craft store with my fiancée and she was dismayed at the selection of cross-stitch patterns. Being bored and highly caffeinated, I proposed creating a cross-stitch pattern creator and marketplace where people could create and sell their patterns. She thought the idea was crazy (as 99% of my ideas are) as I already have too many things on my plate and the conversation and the idea were dropped.

The Scheme

Little did she know that I was scheming what I believe will be the most significant thing I have done with my life: getting a chance to repay my mother for everything she's done for me.

I have been secretly developing this site in my spare time unbeknownst to my Mother, my fiancée and my friends.

This Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-30, 2011), I am giving this company to my mother.

What can I do to help?

What I'm asking from all of you reading this; please help me spread the word about what I'm doing... sign up on the left so I know who you are and I'll send you some more information on Tuesday morning about what's happening next.

What can I expect?

As a promoter you will be listed on this page in the left column with a link to whatever services you provided. After the site is launched, you will be displayed permanently on a Special Thanks page and randomly rotated at the bottom of the site on all pages. You'll also receive a permanent +3 Karma increase.

As an extra special thanks, those of you I know in person will enjoy a beverage on me.

What's going to happen Memorial Day Weekend?

Because our family lives apart, we can only get together a few times a year to celebrate all of the various holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. Memorial Day weekend will be the last get together before the big end-of-the-year holidays.

As my Mother's Day gift, I'm going to present her with a matted and framed cross-stitch that tells her how much I appreciate everything she's done and sacrificed for me. It will have the first $1 bill from the proceeds of this site attached to it. I am also going to cut a piece of PCB into the shape of a key and present it to her as the "key to her new store".

Update - Monday 5/23

I'm experiencing some technical difficulties with the Pattern Designer that was supposed to soft-launch to the public today (~cough~ IE ~cough~). I will be sending the update email tomorrow morning instead.

Update - Tuesday 5/24

What is Pattern&Craft
For those of you who aren't sure exactly what this project is about, here is a quick overview. Patter&Craft is a website that allows users to create cross-stitching patterns and sell them. Each user can choose a price for their pattern and when the pattern sells, they will receive 80% of the profits of that sale. The site will eventually expand into retail physical goods, user-made goods and other craft venues.

Technical Difficulties
Yesterday was supposed to be the soft-launch of the Pattern Designer so that people could start creating patterns that will go on sale on Friday but we encountered some technical difficulties (~cough~ IE ~cough~). I'm happy to report that the bugs have been fixed and the Pattern Designer is available for use starting now.

What's Next
This Friday, the site will launch to the public at 12pm EST.

Starting today, the Pattern Designer is available from the link below. Now through Friday you can create patterns that will be available for sale on launch day. If you know someone who would be interested in creating a pattern, please share the Pattern Designer link with them.

Why Create Patterns?
When a pattern is purchased, you receive 80% of the pattern price for as long as your pattern is available for sale. Prices are setup in a tiered system and you can choose whichever tier you think your pattern will sell for. You can change your price tier at any time. The tiered pricing will become available shortly before launch and you will have the opportunity to set your pricing tier. Patterns that are not priced will not be available on the site for sale on Friday.

Getting the Word Out
If you know anyone who would like to create a pattern, please share the Pattern Designer Link with them. On Friday, I will send another email shortly before launch that contains information and links for the general public about the launch.

Best Wishes Page
There will be a best wishes page available on Friday for you to add your name that my Mom will see on Saturday. You do not need to create a pattern to add your name to the page. I'm hoping to get as many names as possible added to this page so she can see just how much support everyone has given.

Thank you again for all the support.
